Tears-regarding your Mum. I hadn't realized she was so sick. She truly was one of a kind that was able to create something out of nothing-and it was always magnificent. Whether it be curries, homemade soup, and even very artistic things and designs in the home. She had a way of making something lived in look total new and purposeful. Its clear that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! Its funny how the older we get the more we see our parents in ourselves and God knows I struggled for so many years to not be like my parents in some specific ways! I love that you see the beauty and possibility in older things and give them new life. That is a real gift! We cherish your Unstyled writing and have decided to buy this subscription for our own friends and family for Christmas! May it bless them as it has me and my daughter since we subscribed! Sending a warm hug!
Thank you Debi. I’m so grateful to your support and the memories you share of my mum. She wasn’t well but not in the sense that we thought she would die anytime soon. She moved in with me because it was mutually beneficial. It was still a shock that she died so suddenly x
I had a similar Tesco excitement of the week life with wheelchair mum
We could park, it was flat, I cooked her a week of meals so the carer had a bit less to do, so bulk buys were sensible.
Som arrived and so the expedition included him sat on mum’s lap as she could still hold him tight when he was little. Later there needed to be two of us on for the mum chair one for the pushchair . One Sunday it was hot so the expedition set off and acquired an inflatable “ canoe” in a very small size.
It sat in the lawn with a small slide into the water set up at one end and mum at the other.
As my son slid in the water heaved up and splashed mum. It was the most fun we all had, and this heatwave reminds me of that Sunday

What a lovely memory to have - I love the thought of them in the inflatable canoe!
