I would definitely support your show! I stopped watching HGTV because it got boring and tiresome seeing the same ideas /styles/colorways regurgitated day in and day out-it seemed like no had an original idea or the homeowners had no personal style! I want my home to reflect who I am …tell my story.

I feel the same! There are a couple of ok shows in the UK but nothing that feels groundbreaking or exciting or as you said, original.

I was just posting about this a couple weeks ago. I had just finished a very popular design show and got low key angry how the whole thing went down. I told my husband I needed to figure out where the British design shows were! The only one I could find was Escape to the Chateau which I have enjoyed, but you really hit the nail on the head with what we NEED. We need a design show exactly like you said.

That’s definitely a popular one! I actually didn’t really watch it but people loved it. Aside from Grand Designs which is more about architecture and Interior Design Masters which is a competition format, there isn’t much that feels current.

That is a show I would absolutely be on board with!! I was nodding along to what you were saying! Why does there always have to be these big budgets and for most of us, completely unattainable living goals?! We've lived in our house nearly 6 years and it's still not finished, why? Because of health, money, lack of motivation and me going through a stage of having absolutely no idea how I wanted each room to be because I became so blinded by "what it should be" I forgot it needs to represent us and once I found that realisation I never looked back ❤️

Indeed, exactly!! So great to hear you reached the realisation - must have been a great feeling ! There are lots of affordable and creative ways of making our home ours! It’s not a show, but there’s an interiors podcast from the UK called The Great Indoors, by Kate Watson Smyth (who also writes here on Substack) and Sophie Robinson. Do you know it? It’s hilarious and also extremely practical for helping people create homes they love with regular budgets.

I think about this a lot. Very few people can afford a big budget renovation yet all these shows focus on just that 🤔

I’d tune in for that! I love following your diy on Instagram and was thinking of you when trying my best to be assertive with my bathroom contractor. I’d say I succeeded 50% and I’m taking that as a win 😀

I love „Your home made perfect“ but as you say quite often the „after“ is spoiled by not so great interior design.

Ha ha glad I could help! 😂 sounds like a win. I appreciate that often the money has run out after they do these big renovations- hence the sub par interiors - but still…

I think the UK show Interior Design Masters is stellar at offering feel good process, lots of learning for both the participants and viewers, and transformations on minimal budgets (though lots of expert tradespeople working), and lots of different interior styles represented. It’s empowering, educational, and accessible. The main judge is on Substack actually: https://michelleogundehin.substack.com/

I adored that show! I only have the one season on Netflix over here in AZ but that’s why I want more UK design shows 👏🏼
