Usually I write to process the events in my life, but this month the well has run dry, so I’m signing off for a bit. We’ve had some very sad news in the family so I’m taking the time to process and be with my family and friends.
To my many new subscribers I’d like to say thank you and welcome and that you can expect much more writing in the New Year, but for now there is plenty for you to catch up on here in the worlds of interiors and styling and creativity.
The entire archive of posts is best viewed here on the homepage where you can scroll through and catch up. Life Unstyled is free to read, although I’m extremely grateful to the many readers who’ve continued their paid subscriptions - thank you.
Until my return, here are a few favourites from the archive:
If you’re looking for inspiration for your home’s exterior, Lessons in Curb Appeal from a walk in LA is a good one with lots of images of creative homes I saw on my last visit to Los Angeles earlier this year. You can also watch here how it inspired me to give my own home an exterior facelift.
Read this one, Sleeping with Strangers, about my foray this summer into being an Airbnb host in my newly renovated bungalow. Hint: it didn’t last long.
In Style your home like a visual merchandiser I share how my time working for Anthropologie in LA years ago helps me style my home today and I think it can help you too.
In Our Design DNA I ponder whether our innate sense of style ever really changes.
In A tour of the Margate bungalow I share some before and afters of my house renovation. Can any interiors lover resist a before and after? I know I can’t.
To celebrate ten years of my first book Modern Rustic (still in print and apparently still loved!), last year I made a little video to share how it came to be as well as some anecdotes from our travels for the shoots.
In The Generic Home I write and speak about the worrying trend towards us all living in identical, dull homes.
As an antidote to The Generic Home, I write in my series How the other half lives about homes that push the boundaries with unusual approaches to design. Even if you don’t love the style of these homes, they might help you push your own creative boundaries to create a home you love.
Lastly, read If your past interiors don’t make you cringe, you’re not doing it right where I share some interiors decisions I made that make me cringe.
There are many more posts in the archive for you to enjoy, so get comfortable, slow down, take a break…and read.
Don’t forget to comment, like, share etc. There are also lots of videos in my Instagram archive if you fancy some light hearted interiors inspiration over there as well.
Sending you all my love x
Sorry to hear you have had sad news.
Take good care. x
Best wishes to you and your family xx
