I haven’t completely stopped, but I’m not posting nearly as much on Instagram about our house renovation. I’m bored of seeing it so I imagine my followers are too. In fact I’ve stopped sharing as much on social media in general. I used to share so much on stories. I loved it! When Instagram first launched stories - to compete with Snapchat and its 24 hour disappearing posts - I was their number 1 fan. Finally an outlet on social media that spoke to me and my Life Unstyled philosophy of showing more of what’s real and messy, less of what’s fake and polished.

Somehow the impermanent nature of the posts gave people permission to be a bit braver and care less about posting the perfect picture. We were allowed access to parts of people’s lives previously off limits and it was refreshing and comforting.

But like all things social media related, the shine eventually wears off once the corporations get greedy - constant ads, low views unless you post videos,
