Have a listen/watch to hear why I’ve started this newsletter/podcast and what I’d like from you to make it a more collaborative, creative, and energising space.
The podcast I mention is by Emma Gannon from The Hyphen and Ctrl Alt Delete and it’s called The Success Myth Diaries #3 with Jeff Hamaoui of The Modern Elder Academy where they talk about - among other things - the U-Curve of happiness and it’s definitely worth a listen if you’re in that middle stage of life and feeling a bit…stuck).
Hi Emily,
This feels like a much more personal experience and I’m looking forward to seeing where you take us!
I am curious to see your decision processes in video form, perhaps. I’m intrigued by your stack of miss-matched tiles and how you would go about putting them all together. There is a process, isn’t there?
Would you believe I took up knitting during the pandemic and was inspired by an Irish designer, Carol Feller, who led us on a journey to use up miss-matched wool in a free form jumper. The journey was most enjoyable.
Thanks for taking us along with you. Staying enthusiastic and inspired in our creative endeavours is difficult and it’s easy to get lost.

Hi Emily,
I love your intro and how exciting to be exploring this option! I am, very slowly, restyling our house that we moved into two years ago and I keep returning to your gorgeous books for inspiration.
I have come to Substack (as a reader) for similar reasons to you, I also have this feeling that I’m looking for something - I don’t know what it is yet, but I keep searching and I think I’ll know when I find it! Like I’ll look back and say “that was it!”.
Since you asked for suggestions...
I’d love to see how you go about the work you’re doing on your new house, and your general approach to styling. The behind-the-scenes, as you said.
It would be amazing to see video interviews/house tours of inspiring interiors, like a video version of your books. Since you mentioned you like doing videos :)
Something else that could be fun is if you maybe led a community of people who love this same aesthetic and maybe create opportunities for readers to share projects or inspiration and maybe open up a conversation?
Excited for where you might take this!
