I loved this piece. You have created such a wonderful house and garden. The next owners will adore it. Love the hidden aspect and then you turn the corner and it’s huge! The gulls add that seaside vibe ❤️
I love this.. I bought a house in and up and coming area in 2014, a tiny cottage. I married and moved somewhere else. The marriage ended and that house was my saving grace. It allowed me to walk away from that marriage and start again. I sold the cottage, bought another and renovated again! Living peacefully now… but I love that you knew how to let go and move on. I often think if we’re not changing we’re not growing. Nothing lasts forever. Best of luck with your new venture. Who knows what your next adventure will be like!
I've moved, many, many times buying and selling, to the point somebody remarked they were running out of space in their address book with all the updates. Each move was for a reason, and ultimately financially beneficial. The key factor being, a house is a home for a moment, the memories live forever. Best of luck with your new memories
What a gem of a house! I love making something beautiful out of nothing, like you I have been doing it all my life, a lot of the time from necessity to make a less-than-fab rental cosy and liveable. I really like the process and satisfaction of the end result. Congratulations on the transformation of your gorgeous bungalow, I have a friend who is selling up for similar reasons and I said to her ‘imagine how great it will be to have no mortgage and a big chunk of change in the bank.’ X
Hi Emily! Wow this is exciting news - I’m jealous of whoever buys your bungalow b/c that would be my dream home. I especially love the bathroom. Can’t wait to see your next transformation- it is always a pleasure to follow you. Best of luck! 💓
I just read the piece you linked to about forever homes and I am totally in agreement with you. I would happily sell our big, old house for something smaller that would free up some cash and time and mean we could live a slightly different lifestyle in a different area. A different chapter. But my husband (who grew up moving every 18 months as a child whilst his parents bought, renovated and sold properties and moved up the property ladder and further and further out of London) has put down roots like a mighty oak tree!
I’m looking forward to seeing what your next property purchase is.
Ooh that's a tough one! I get where your husband is coming from. I often wonder if my kids will want to settle in one place because we moved quite a bit. I suppose you can live vicariously watching crazy people like me who move every four years?
Hi- in addition to being enormously creative and hard working, you are brave and wise. It's "easier" to hang on to a current situation but change can provide opportunities for growth (personal, financial, etc). I know you will succeed in your future endeavors and wish you all the best! Kudos to your stellar support system too.
I loved reading your story. Curious what your next step will be.

I really enjoyed reading this and know you’ll make your next home equally as beautiful.
Feeling so excited for you. Very best of luck. ❤️
(You may remember coming to shoot at Otters Barn a few years ago for Habitat) x

That’s such a wonderful way of putting it. A house is a home for a moment or a year or a season of life. But it should never be a burden.
I’m thrilled for you …this is unexpected but I’m giddy with excitement and anticipation for what’s to come next!
Your talent compels you to move on and seduce us with your creativity ♥️♥️♥️
That’s so kind. I’m excited for what’s next!
Looking forward to your next home/project. I love your work!
Thank you! I hope it’s another bungalow…
Wishing you all the best for your new home and freedom filled future 💖
Thank you!

Exactly! Such freedom. Your experience of doing up rentals will have armed you with many tips and hacks I’m sure.

Thank you Michelle! It’s my dream house too but we can have many dream homes right? As well as dream partners and careers and… 😂
Thrilled for you Em! Having freedom(and safety) money is The Best.
It's so much easier--so to speak--to see what life has in store for you when you are well funded.
Cannot wait to see what you and Kimchi will do next!
Congratulations on freedom.

Thank you Susan! I'm hopeful I'll find another great project x

Hello from Paris,
Congratulations on what you have achieved and on moving on! I look forward to seeing what you do with your next property.
Thank you Marie from Paris! I spent a lot of time in your beautiful city years ago for a job.

Yes! So much opportunity comes from pushing ourselves to new frontiers doesn't it?
