I wish I could break into stylish people’s houses and see everything just as it is. What do they have within reach of sofas and beds… I love homes that function beautifully and look good messy. It’s like looking good naked for interiors.
I agree! It’s what I’ve been banging on about for years and what I’ve tried to champion with the homes in feature in my books - not always successfully because people are still reluctant to commit their mess to print forever. It’s why I named my old, old blog Life Unstyled all those years ago 😬
Interior design inspiration often comes from unexpected places, and finding that secret source can transform your space. In the context of 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐃𝐮𝐛𝐚𝐢, inspiration frequently draws from the city's unique blend of modern luxury and cultural richness. Whether it’s the sleek architecture of the Burj Khalifa or the intricate patterns of traditional Arabic designs, Dubai offers endless creative possibilities. Combining these elements with your personal style and modern trends can unlock a design that’s truly extraordinary. Sometimes, the secret lies in looking beyond the obvious and embracing a mix of innovation and tradition.
The secret to interiors inspiration often lies in exploring versatile and innovative materials. Vinyl interiors are a game-changer, offering a cost-effective yet stylish solution for revamping any space. They mimic high-end finishes like wood, marble, or stone while being durable and easy to maintain. Whether for walls, furniture, or flooring, vinyl adds a modern touch to your design without compromising on quality or aesthetics. It’s a great option for those looking to refresh their interiors with creativity and functionality!
Yea same Emily I’ve been perusing those sites since 2008 or so. I love them. Also Frank Features in So Africa and the Swedish realtor sites with the exceptional propping!
“Photo shoot location agency”—will have to remember that search engine phrase! Magazines are just too expensive to make a monthly weekend habit of anymore, and as you say, IG & Pinterest take you down an ever-narrowing spiral of sameness.
I’m excited to look through these. I have been loving the Peach Fuzz combos I’m seeing on Pinterest and decided to paint my lower cabinets in that color with the cabinet around my fridge in a bit of a shocking yellow. It’s just paint so if I end up getting sick of it in a few years I’ll paint again 😂 that’s one joy of having an old house with old breaking cabinets. It’s experimental.
That's exactly the right attitude in my opinion! Loving the peach cabinets idea. Click on the link to the first two images in the post as there are some lovely paint colour combinations in that home, including a peachy one around some doors.

Thanks for sharing Emily, such an interesting read.
So pleased you enjoyed it Sonya!
Emily this is SO GOOD. Thank you for sharing!! And also it totally resonates what you say about 'favourite houses' as a teen - I was the same...
I agree Jess and Emily, I was totally picking out my favourite house and their gardens along the streets as I walked or biked past. 💕
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. The favourite house thing is an obsession isn't it!
